Raw has appointed Liesel Evans as Creative Director, UK Factual.

Evans joins from Century Films where she was Director of Programmes. Her production credits include 2017 BAFTA nominated film Kids on the Edge, Married Behind Bars and Bouncers for Channel 4, Mumbai High – The Musical and B is for Book for BBC4 and two series of Parking Wars for ITV.

Evans’ hire marks the second senior appointment for Raw following the company’s recent acquisition by All3media. Last week the company announced the promotion of Race to the White House producer Louise Norman to the role of Head of US Documentaries and SVP Special Projects.

Evans replaces Richard Bond, who left six months ago to join Dragonfly as creative director.

Evans’ appointment comes on the back of a number of UK factual commissions for Raw including Ikea access documentary Flatpack; The World’s Biggest Furniture Store and Abortion: What Britain Really Thinks presented by Anne Robinson both for BBC2 and Chris Packham: Me and My Asperger’s for Channel 4’.

Raw’s founder Dimitri Doganis said: “I’m delighted that Liesel has agreed to join Raw – her commitment to intelligent and thought-provoking programmes, combined with a finely tuned sense of what will appeal to a wide audience, is obvious in all she does. She’s hugely experienced, committed to the highest level of story-telling and has great respect across the UK industry. We see high-end factual productions in the UK as a massively important part of our strategy going forward, and Liesel is the perfect person to spearhead that effort.”

Raw has had success in the US premium documentary market recently. Projects include Race for the White House’ (co-executive produced with Kevin Spacey), forthcoming series Kennedys: an American Dynasty (w/t) for CNN, the David Koresh and the Siege of Waco (w/t) series for A&E Networks and single film Road: Drugs, Death and the Dark Web for BBC/A&E.

Reality programming is also a big part of the company’s US output; Raw is currently producing an 8th season of Gold Rush for Discovery, while the second season of Homestead Rescue for Discovery has just started airing in the US.
