RDF to make Saturday night brainiest show for BBC One
19 October 2012
RDF is to produce new BBC Saturday night entertainment show Britain’s Brightest, hosted by Clare Balding.
Britain’s Brightest will see 24 people compete in a knockout tournament to test the brain by examining everything from emotional intelligence to processing speed. The contestant with the best all-round mind will be crowned champion, having won through a series of demanding challenges and puzzles staged in studio and on location.
Auditions are already underway with applicants taking aptitude tests before being invited to the studio to compete. Balding will begin filming Britain’s Brightest later this year at MediaCityUK in Salford. The 4x75-minute and 2x60-minute series is set to air in early 2013.
The executive producer for RDF Television is Peter Usher and Mirella Breda, executive editor Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC.
The show was commissioned by Danny Cohen controller, BBC One and Mark Linsey, controller, Entertainment Commissioning.
Zodiak Rights has worldwide rights, excluding Germany, to the format.
