October Films has won its first commission from US network Investigation Discovery for a new 10-hour drama documentary series about extreme obsessions.

Obsession: Dark Desires is a drama-documentary series which tells the stories of people who have suffered as victims of an extreme obsession by a stalker. With drama, victim testimony and insight from forensic psychologists, the series tells true stories of how victims' lives can be affected by people and circumstances beyond their control.

The drama doc was commissioned by Jane Latman for Investigation Discovery. It is executive produced by Jeanie Vink for ID. Alex Sutherland, Matt Robins and Denman Rooke are co-execs for October Films.

The series will be distributed internationally by Cineflix Rights as part of a first look deal giving Cineflix Rights worldwide rights to all of October’s new programming.

Matt Robins, October's head of Development, who devised and secured the deal, says, "We believe our distinctive approach to crime programming will attract attention around the world."

Jane Latman, senior vice president of development, Investigation Discovery says, "ID is the only network in the US devoted to real-life stories of mystery and suspense and we're excited to partner with October Films on this new series we know our audience will love."

October’s recent productions include documentaries World War II From Space (History) and Letting Go (BBC One), science/history crossover series Back from the Dead (Channel 4/National Geographic), the factual entertainment series Rude Tube (Channel 4) and returning science series You Have Been Warned (Discovery Channel).
