The Children’s Media Conference (CMC) has booked writer and presenter Nadiya Hussain to deliver the opening keynote interview.

At CMC, which takes place from 2-4 July in Sheffield, Hussain will discuss mental health, intolerance, inequality and and consider what we can all do to inspire young people to feel truly limitless.

The keynote comes ahead of the publication of her first children’s picture book, ‘My Monster and Me’ this October.

Hussain’s keynote interview comes as part of this year’s overall theme of ‘Limitless’ and will explore what kids’ media can do to support the limitless curiosity, imaginations and entertainment appetite of children, while making sense of the near-limitless choice and connectivity available to them.

The conference will explore the unprecedented changes facing the industry, including new players and new funding models, new thinking on inclusivity and engagement, and pan-platform brands with limitless ambitions to connect with kids.

The conference, now in its 16th year, expects to welcome more than 1,200 delegates, kicking off with the annual market day, the CMC International Exchange on Tuesday 2 July which plays host to a wide range of broadcasters, co-producers, funders and investors from across the world keen to meet sellers of content and services.

Greg Childs, Editorial Director at CMC adds: “Nadiya is an inspiration and a great example of somebody who is relentlessly positive and follows her creative dreams, while managing a busy family life, her own personal challenges and wider discrimination.  All of these pressures also impact children and are issues which resonate widely in the kids’ media industry. Her commitment to opening up discussions around these important topics and breaking down stigma is inspiring, and we look forward to welcoming Nadiya to CMC.”
