Mentorn hires Celia Taylor as managing director

Former Sky head of non-scripted commissioning Celia Taylor is to join Tinopolis-owned Mentorn Media as managing director.

Taylor is taking over responsibility for Mentorn from Jonathan Hewes, who will now focus solely on his role as CEO of Tinopolis specialist factual producer, Pioneer.

Taylor will be responsible for expanding Mentorn’s programme and development slate – with current shows ranging from Robot Wars and Question Time to Traffic Cops and Inside London Fire Brigade – with a focus on factual, factual entertainment and entertainment content for both the UK and the international market.

She will report to David Mortimer,director of content for the Tinopolis Group.

Taylor said: “Mentorn is one of the TV industry’s most respected production companies and I am incredibly excited about working with the hugely talented team to further build on the success they have had to date.”

Taylor was most recently Head of Non-Scripted Commissioning at Sky, where she ordered shows including League of Their Own, Wild Things, Ross Kemp’s Extreme World, Mentorn’s An Idiot Abroad, as well as BAFTA winning Flying Monsters 3D with Sir David Attenborough.

Prior to joining Sky, Taylor was Director of Programmes at Virgin Media, responsible for four of their digital channels. As a commissioning editor for factual at the BBC she worked across BBC1, BBC2 and BBC3. Before moving into commissioning, she worked as a freelance producer for many independent production companies and broadcasters.
