Angela Jain, ITV director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, has ordered The Big Reunion from ITV Studios, reuniting pop bands Atomic Kitten, 5IVE, B*Witched, Liberty X, Honeyz and 911.
Commissioned by Katy Thorogood, commissioner of Factual and Daytime, The Big Reunion sees the reappearance of some of the acts that dominated UK pop over a 10-year period from the mid nineties. Some of the band members have remained in the celebrity spotlight, whilst others left their showbiz lives behind to pursue new careers, including a circus performer, a midwife, a teacher, a farmer and a wedding photographer. Some of the bands are reforming for the ITV commission.
Each band will have two weeks of rehearsals before they step perform again in front of thousands of fans.
Michael Kelpie, creative director, ITV Studios said: "To reunite these bands, tell the stories of what has happened to each of them since their heydays and follow them as they prepare to step back on the stage for the first time in a decade is a dream come true."
Executive producers are Michael Kelpie and Phil Mount, ITV Studios, series producer is Kevin Lane, ITV Studios.
