ITV has invested in LA based digital entertainment studio New Form.

The deal between ITV and New Form will include a multi-year commercial agreement to bring New Form’s programming to The ITV Hub, starting in 2017.

ITV said it marks the latest step in its strategy to engage younger audiences by investing in the fast-growing “digital first” content market. ITV’s Global Entertainment division will also have first look distribution rights to New Form’s content.

Since launching in 2014, New Form has produced 30 pilots and converted 20 of those into series, with partners including Verizon’s go90, YouTube Red and Fullscreen.  It has also recently sold Final Space, its first full-length linear series, to US network TBS.

Its scripted credits include Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures and Shitty Boyfriends.

The New Form investment follows ITV’s recently announced partnership with youth content company AwesomenessTV to license, co-produce and distribute new shows for ITV2 and the ITV Hub under the brand 2Awesome, which launches this Saturday (10 December) with new drama You’ve Been T@gged on the ITV Hub.

It sits alongside ITV’s existing investments in digital content companies like Believe Entertainment, Indigenous Media and Channel Mum. ITV has also invested in international eSports TV channel Ginx TV, alongside Sky, which launched in the summer.

Simon Pitts, ITV Managing Director, Online, Pay TV and Interactive said: “New Form is at the forefront of a new generation of talented producer-broadcasters who are not only creating fantastic new shows but can also build loyal audiences and brands online.”

Discovery Communications, an initial investor in New Form, is also making an additional investment.
