Avid used IBC to continue to push its Avid Everywhere message with a host of new announcements and updates for the Avid MediaCentral Platform.

It announced its software based storage platform Nexis E5 that offers 40GbE connectivity and 80–480 TB of storage capacity per engine, with the ability to scale up to 1.4PB of capacity and 9.6GBps of bandwidth, supporting more than 2000 Avid DNxHR HD streams or 500 Avid DNxHR 4K streams across over 300 connected clients.

In audio post, Avid unveiled Pro Tools 12.6 with ‘advanced audio editing innovations’, and introduced new flexible options for accessing its Pro Tools | HD toolset meaning users can now access Pro Tools software without the hardware bundle.

Avid also debuted some new solutions for sports production tailored to set ups from the very small up to large broadcasters and remote productions. Each solution bundles everything needed for the fast turnaround live sports shows, centred on the PlayMaker sports ingest, replay and playout server, Spark sports enhancement, and by Avid NEXIS shared storage, Media Composer editing, and Interplay | Production asset management. Basic installation and training are included in the package.

There were also new workflows for newsrooms that put the “story at the centre of news operations spanning from planning to delivery, and provides the tools news teams need to plan, gather, create, collaborate, manage and deliver news to a wider range of viewers across multiple platforms.”
