Harry Hill launches indie with Sky cookery commission

Harry Hill has set up a new indie, Nit TV, in collaboration with TV and radio producer CPL Productions.

Nit TV’s first commission is a ‘comedy cookery’ show called Harry Hill’s Tea-Time, which has been given a two-series run (8 x 30-minutes) on Sky 1. Series one will air in autumn this year, with the second series scheduled for 2017.

Harry Hill’s Tea-Time will apparently be a “ fun-filled concoction of one part chat show and one part spoof cookery show” and will see Harry joined by a pretty familiar list of celebs including the likes of James Corden, Ruth Jones, James Nesbitt, Karl Pilkington, Ross Kemp and Lee Mack.

The cookery part of the show is mixed with what sounds like a cookery-flavoured twist on the Harry Hill’s TV Burp format as Hill “garnishes the chat with TV show clips, from shows that his guests have appeared in, to comical observations taken from the cookery TV genre.”

Celia Taylor, Head of Non-Scripted Commissioning and Richard Ackerman, Commissioning Editor, at Sky, commissioned the series.

Nit TV also has a script development deal with the BBC for a sitcom created by, and starring, Harry Hill and based on his memoir, Livin’ The Dreem: A Year In My Life...Probably.

“It’s great to be working with Danielle [Lux, md] and Murray [Boland, creative director] at CPL and finally finding a permanent home for all my TV ideas,” says Harry Hill. “This new teatime show is a natural fit for Sky, and I’m particularly excited to know my programmes will now be broadcast via satellite so that aliens will be able to watch them. They're not going to know what's hit them. I expect an invasion.”

“The sitcom idea is one that’s been bubbling under for a while and I’m looking forward to working with Shane Allen at BBC Comedy who’s been a great supporter of mine,” adds Hill.

“[Harry Hill’s] creative vision and irreverent approach is a perfect fit for CPL,” says Lux, while Boland adds: “These fantastic deals with Sky and the BBC are just the start of a dynamic and lively future for Nit TV.”
