Vfx company Glassworks has appointed Phil Linturn to chief operating officer as part of a restructure at the group which will see CEO Hector Macleod focus on strategy development and implementation for Glassworks, Ground Control and Heartworks.

Linturn (pictured) moves from his position as MD of Glassworks Amsterdam – with his successor to be announced shortly.

He will be in charge of management of the group, further consolidating the links between the London, Amsterdam and Barcelona facilities.

He will work closely with MDs of London and Barcelona, Misha Stanford-Harris and Xavi Tribo, and report to group CEO Hector Macleod.

“It has been a natural move for Phil to take the Glassworks helm”, said Macleod.

“Phil has been with us for 10 years and fully understands our philosophy, having worked his way up through the company.”

“He has transformed Glassworks Amsterdam into the success it is today since becoming MD there in 2010.”

Linturn said: “The new role will afford us the opportunity to search out and forge new creative collaborations while engaging with more clients and understanding their evolving needs”.

“I have to ensure that, for example, an agency in London is able to benefit from the digital creativity that Xavi’s Lab, Barcelona’s technologist division, is capable of, as if it were just down the road”.

He added: “Glassworks has always excelled at delivering visually stunning work and solving complex creative and technical vfx challenges. More clients are discovering our reservoir of talent and tapping into our skills earlier in the filmmaking process.”

Recent Glassworks projects include Art of Raw film for G-Star and Freeview's Pondview.
