Lion TV has announced two new appointments to the senior creative leadership team.

Ex Firecracker Films’ Emma Morgan will take the position of Creative Director, whilst Tom Watt-Smith has been appointed as Head of Factual. Reporting directly to Lion TV’s and Chief Content Officer, Nick Catliff and Chief Creative Officer, Richard Bradley, Morgan and Watt-Smith will continue to grow the production companies raft of programming, spanning entertainment, daytime, science and history, international co-productions and multi-platform projects.

Richard Bradley and Nick Catliff said: “Now is a really exciting moment in the Lion story as we embark on a process of investment and creative renewal across our London, Glasgow and New York bases. We are delighted to welcome Emma and Tom who will add their talents and experience to our senior team in the UK and USA.

We have long admired Emma’s brilliant work creating and delivering ground-breaking formats and popular factual shows. She has a wealth of experience and the most fantastic creative energy which will be wonderful assets at the heart of Lion going forward.

With his recent Grierson Award Tom is a rising star of the factual world and we are looking forward to working with him to build on Lion’s distinguished reputation in high-end factual programmes and the exciting global opportunities, and take us to new heights.”

Emma Morgan said: “I’ve had a brilliant run at Firecracker but I’ve always been a fan of Lion’s huge range of output and the chance to join them at this exciting time in their evolution was too good to miss.”

Tom Watt-Smith said: “Lion TV has a brilliant reputation and pedigree of programmes and I’m honoured to be joining the team at what is a very exciting time for the business.”

Emma Morgan joins Lion TV from Firecracker Films where she developed and produced a slate of shows including Emma Willis: Delivering Babies (WTV); Mums Make Porn (Channel 4) and Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over (WTV). She has held key roles in both development and production at Twofour, Mentorn and Oxford Scientific Films with credits including Gregg’s More Than Meats the Pie (Sky1); Free Speech (BBC3); A Very British Hotel (Channel 4); and Angry White & Proud (Channel 4).

Director and Executive Producer, Tom Watt-Smith’s slate includes the 2019 Grierson and RTS Award-winning Drowning in Plastic (BBC1/Raw TV), Big Life Fix (BBC 2 / Studio Lambert) and Operation Julie (Netflix / BBC1 Raw TV).
