UK-based editing keyboard and recording equipment maker Editors Keys has launched its first range of wireless editing shortcut keyboards.

According to Editors Keys, the new wireless keyboards enable editors to “become cable free for the first time”. Editors Keys has so far created wireless keyboards for a range of video and audio packages, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Avid Media Composer, Avid Pro Tools, Ableton Live and Cubase.

The development of Editors Keys’ wireless keyboards was funded through a kickstarter campaign. The keyboards are built around the newest 2.4ghz wireless technology to enable connection to any Mac or PC wirelessly. Editors Keys claims a battery life of between two to six months per pair of AA batteries. A USB dongle is provided to link up wirelessly with the keyboard.

The wireless keyboards are available in a new slimline format and cost £79.99 each, although Editors Keys is currently offering an early bird £10 discount per slimline keyboard until 29 March 2016, reducing wireless keyboards to £69.99 each.

Editors Keys believes its colour coded keyboards help editors speed up editing by over 40% as they contain all the programs shortcut keys that aren't so readibly available with a standard keyboard.

"Having a full length wireless keyboard with you at all times means you can enjoy the benefits of portability without compromising on the time saving shortcuts a full keypad provides,” says Jonny Elwyn, Broadcast editor and trainer at Editors Keys.
