Trade body EVCOM has announced event and communications professional, Jennifer Jenkins, as its new chief executive.  Jenkins joins after 15 years as managing director of the UK business of global communications agency MCI Group.

"I have always been a champion of this industry and actively involved in a number of trade associations and industry partnerships,” she said.  “I believe we are stronger, as an industry, if we speak with a single voice and EVCOM has an important leadership role to play in ensuring that our collective voice is heard.  I’m looking forward to working with the Board to make that happen."

Incoming Chair of EVCOM, Andrew Winterburn, has welcomed the appointment. He said: "I have known Jennifer for many years.   She will be a forthright advocate for our members and their business interests.   Her appointment comes at an important time for our industry post-Brexit and as we deliver an increasing number of training and development opportunities to members as well as our inaugural Industry Awards in November."

Jenkins takes over from Steve Garvey who has been chief executive for the past two years. Garvey will focus on developing Moving Image, the information source on digital video and how it’s used for corporate communications. Garvey commented: “EVCOM remains the only association representing the whole corporate communication industry and it’s been a huge honour to lead it. It’s in great hands with an outstanding leadership team of industry professionals who know how to ensure EVCOM grows with the industry.”

Jenkins continues in her role as Chair of Meeting Needs, the event industry charity.
