Crystal CG has produced an animated film to accompany the Chemical Brothers’ Velodrome track which is being played in the venue.
The film is part of an initiative by LOCOG’s sport presentation team which has been briefed to form an entertainment experience outside the excitement of the sporting events themselves in each Olympic venue.

As part of this vision, known as ‘Rock the Games’, individual songs have been written for various venues and are being played as spectators take their seats and wait for the action to begin. The Chemical Brothers Velodrome
is one of these tracks.
The single was released on 30th July and Crystal has created a three minute animated sequence for the song’s promotional video.
“We’ve created sweeping contours and sleek surfaces as the backdrop for an intense, futuristic cycling ‘duel’ as two animated riders power round the track,” said Darren Groucutt, creative director at Crystal.
James O’Brien, LOCOG head of Sports Presentation, says, “Inspiring people to engage with sport has always been central to our vision and we want to ensure the way we present sport adds to the experience of the spectators in the venues and builds the atmosphere. This will be a special summer and we are grateful to everyone who has given their time and expertise over the past years.”
