Tiger Aspect Productions has named Clare Handford as the company's new head of factual programming.

Handford was a casualty in Sky's restructuring of factual earlier this year, when it merged its factual and factual entertainment commissioning teams.

Handford will oversee ongoing commissions at the Endemol group company, including Restoration Man, Channel 4's George Clarke-fronted series, and An Island Parish, the long-running BBC Two series which has, over the past eight years, explored the Isles of Scilly, Barra in the Outer Hebrides and most recently Sark in the Channel Islands.

Handford will be responsible for generating and driving the department strategy for original series and primetime ideas across the factual slate.

At Sky, as commissioning editor, factual from 2011 to 2013 she commissioned and executive produced across the Sky portfolio, from Grierson-nominated Bradley Wiggins: A Year in Yellow for Sky Atlantic to The Metamorphosis for Sky Arts. Her credits include Harrow: A Very British School, British Cycling: Road to Glory, Newlyweds: the First Year, God Save The Queens, Fat: The Fight of My Life and Nick Broomfield's forthcoming feature doc, The Grim Sleeper.

Before joining Sky, she worked at Jane Root's production company Nutopia, where she secured the multi-million pound Discovery commission, How We Invented The World. She was also a producer at Talkback Thames on two series of The Apprentice.
