Indie Blink Films is launching a US office and has appointed Brad Kohlenstein as senior vice president, Development to head its new East Coast operation.

Kohlenstein joins Blink Films from Discovery Communications where he was Vice President of Development for Science Channel.

At Blink he will be in charge of growing the company’s US presence and partnerships. Working closely with Blink’s executive team of Dan Chambers, Justine Kershaw and Sarah Sapper in London, he will be responsible for developing and producing shows for US networks, while also looking for co-production opportunities for content that will work globally.

Chambers and Kershaw at Blink Films said: “Brad has a track record in producing globally renowned factual programming and we are delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre as we expand our presence in the US. We are confident he will help to rapidly build the company’s roster of productions for both a domestic and international audience.”

The launch of the US office follows the strategic investment in Blink by Tin Roof Media headed by founder, Neil Court (9 Story Media Group, Peacock Alley Entertainment, former principal at DHX Media), Charles Wace (Founder of Two Four Group), and Charles Ogilvie (former CFO at eOne UK and Contender Entertainment Group).

Court is Tin Roof’s Executive Chairman, Wace is non-executive director, and Ogilvie is the new company’s CFO. Tin Roof is backed by London-based private equity firm Rockpool Investments.
