Staff Reporter
09 February 2012
Social entertainment company Bigballs Films has appointed former Betty Television md Andrew Conrad as director of Television.
In this newly create role Conrad will work with Bigballs Films’ Creative Director Richard Welsh to build the company's television portfolio, and will executive produce all of its output.
Tom Thirlwall CEO of Bigballs Films commented: “Andrews’ stellar track record both in programme making and building production businesses, makes him a rare breed. Bringing him in to Bigballs Films now is a big moment in our development as a modern media company that blends the best talent from the converging worlds of TV, digital, brands and technology.
Conrad was a founding director of Princess Productions, kick-started Jamie Oliver's indie Fresh One Productions and spent five years at Betty TV.
Conrad said: “We’re now seeing a real shift in focus from traditional broadcasters who are starting to embrace the opportunities afforded by digitally integrated programming and the number of TV pilots Bigballs Films now has on its slate reinforces this.
Broadcasters and brands are now starting to understand how they can work together and Bigballs Films has been busy building a business over recent years that sits right at that intersection.”
Bigballs Films was behind pioneering social network drama Kate Modern, and has worked on campaigns such as We Want Piers Bramhall – a first of its kind real-time, integrated TV campaign with Wieden + Kennedy for Visit Wales.
