BSkyB & Parthenon confirm Sky Vision distribution venture

BSkyB and Parthenon Media Group have confirmed their new distribution company will be named Sky Vision and revealed the first slate of titles at MIPCOM 2012.

Created following BSkyB’s acquisition of Parthenon Media Group in 2012, Sky Vision is a distributor of multi-platform entertainment. The venture is in line with Sky’s commitment to increasing its investment in original content and will help Sky accelerate its plans for international rights management.
Leading the slate are Atlantic Productions Kingdom of Plants (4 x 60’ HD) and Colossus Productions Galapagos (4 x 60’ HD), both presented by David Attenborough and produced for BSkyB. It will also include Mother of Invention (8 x 60’ HD), produced by Objective Productions for BSkyB,

Sky Vision will be launching new 3D titles, including A Brief History of 3D (1 x 60’ HD/3D) and Britain & Ireland from the Air (4 x 60’ HD/3D), both produced by Bigger Pictures for BSkyB, Academy of Dreams (1 x 60’ HD/3D), produced by X Note S.R.L. and Ice Bear (1 x 60’ HD/3D) produced by Arcadia Content.
Other programmes include Forensic Firsts, (6 x 60’ HD), produced by StoryHouse Productions for Smithsonian Networks. Deserts & Life (6 x 60’ HD), produced by Green Bay Media Ltd, focuses on six of the world’s largest deserts.
“The combination of programmes from Sky, new programmes from our producers and Parthenon’s existing catalogue means that more buyers will be able to access some of our amazing content,” says Carl Hall, md of Sky Vision.
