Outline Productions has won a new commission from BBC2 to produce a peak time cookery series in which Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge reveals how to cook the best ever pub food dishes.

Tom Kerridge is the only chef in Britain who has earned two Michelin stars by cooking in a pub – The Hand & Flowers in Marlow.

Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food (6x30’) reveals the secrets of his pub food, as he cooks a selection of starters, mains and desserts inspired by dishes you’d see on the chalk boards of some of Britain’s best pubs – from mussels cooked in ale, to treacle cured roast beef with ultimate Yorkshire puddings and date and toffee pudding with caramelised banana.

In between the recipes, Tom visits some of his suppliers to provide tips on what to look for to get the best ingredients for specific styles of cooking – for example which cut of beef to choose for your Sunday roast. And he visits other pubs and producers that are pushing the boundaries when it comes to food.

Outline Productions’ director of programmes Bridget Boseley said: “Tom is all about flavour - he makes ordinary dishes extraordinary. He cooks robust food that everyone wants to eat. This isn't fast food - its food that takes a little bit more time, love and attention to make. His food is not pretentious but good honest food. Proper pub food is what he does to perfection.”

Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food was commissioned by commissioning editor, factual features & formats, Alison Kirkham.

It is executive produced by Bridget Boseley for Outline Productions and Alison Kirkham for the BBC.
The series director is Sarah Myland and senior producer is Sally Wingate. The series will transmit in summer 2013.
