BBC Studios and Post Production is to drop its digital media services wing and focus on studios and post production ahead of the reopening of the Television Centre Studios in 2017.
Part of the plan will mean that the Digital Media Services (DMS) arm of the business, based in South Ruislip, will cease to trade in its current form.

Consultation has begun with the 32 staff affected by this decision and the company says it is “is committed to doing everything it can to avoid redundancies wherever possible through redeployment or exploring other options with potential parties.”
David Conway, Managing Director of BBC Studios and Post Production said: “This has been a difficult decision to make, but we need to hone the business in on our core strengths in advance of reopening our Television Centre studios in 2017.  We will do everything we can to take care of our colleagues, all of whom have poured their energies and expertise into Digital Media Services over the years. Our focus is also on our DMS clients who we will be working closely with over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition to the new approach.”
BBC Studios and Post Production says it remains committed to its operations in Elstree and other locations and says it is on track to return to Television Centre in Spring 2017 in order to reopen studios 1 to 3.
