BBC S&PP Digital Media Services moves to purpose built base News
Staff Reporter
19 October 2012
BBC Studios and Post Production Digital Media Services business, which preserves, re-masters and manages content through its archiving, restoration and digital distribution services, will move to a new permanent facility at Odyssey Business Park, South Ruislip from early 2013.
The move to a purpose designed facility will be completed by February 2013, so that by the end of March all current BBC Television Centre activity will come to a close.
Clive Hodge, head of Digital Media Services at BBC Studios and Post Production, said: “With the accommodation and technical infrastructure designed for optimum handling of current and legacy film and tape formats, and connectivity to link to customers, distributors and other BBC S&PP locations, this base will allow us to grow our range of media storage and content handling services.”
BBC Studios and Post Production’s Digital Media Services business has recently
digitised and restored a raft of classic and historic footage, including The Trumptonshire Trilogy, the original series of The Sweeney and The Persuaders! and the 1953 broadcast of the Queen’s Coronation.
