Glasgow based vfx house Axis has opened a new London studio in Angel and has staffed up for new Channel 4 and Netflix project, Kiss Me First.

The team for Kiss Me First will be led by the Animation Director Kan Muftic.

Kiss Me First is an adaptation of Lottie Moggach’s best-selling young adult novel about a lonely 17 year old girl who is addicted to a fictional online gaming site called Agora. The series will combine live action with computer-generated virtual world sequences.

Kan Muftic has previously worked on big name projects in film and video games, including Dr Strange, Dracula Untold and Guardians of the Galaxy. A pool of concept artists, production artists and illustrators will also join Muftic to drive the creative of Kiss Me First.

The London studio will focus predominantly on providing pre-production work, including concept art, design, storyboarding, pitch materials and assets.

The original Axis studio based in Glasgow is also expanding.

As well as the move into broadcast television Axis have also secured several theme park projects. The work required for the new projects has led Axis to develop its pipeline to support large format projects, Imax screens, dome screens and draw on in-house expertise on stereoscopic content creation.

Head of Research and Development, Jason Fairley, said “Our aim is to deliver the same quality and scale seen in our game trailers to these new platforms.  We are moving into projects we have never done before but they will make use of the wealth of experience and talent at Axis.”
