Attaboy TV has been commissioned to make its first BBC Panorama programme, The Gatwick Drone Attack.

The programme will investigate what happened during the Gatwick drone attack in December last year, where over 1,000 flights and 140,000 people were affected.

The programme will speak to industry insiders to give a detailed account of the incident to shed new light on how it unfolded. Reporter Justin Rowlatt will investigate the dangers posed by drones including the extent of near misses, collisions with aircraft and dangerous drone flights. The programme will also ask if a drone attack like this could be stopped in the future and what are the chances of a more sinister attack happening.

The Gatwick Drone Attack will air in the usual Panorama Monday night 8.30pm slot on BBC One on 15 April 2019.

Outside the UK, Silverlining Rights are handling pre-sales and distribution for an extended international version titled Drones: Out of Control (1x60’) which will contain additional in-depth insights and reports on international incidents.

Andrew Shaw, MD, Attaboy TV said “We’re obviously delighted to be working with the BBC and the Panorama team on such a fascinating theme that combines exciting new drone technology and the very real public safety challenges that goes along with it”.

The programme was commissioned by Rachel Jupp, Editor, Panorama and is executive produced by Diana Martin for BBC, Andrew Shaw for Attaboy TV and is produced by Sam Farmar.

London and Yorkshire based Attaboy Television works across long running factual series, science, engineering and automotive programming, single documentaries and specials. Previous commissions include 12 seasons of Discovery's Wheeler Dealers, National Geographic's Strippers: Cars for Cash, ITV1's Deals, Wheels & Steals and 5Spike’s Fights Camera Action.
