Atlantic Productions has appointed Ross Burridge to the newly-created post of head of New Media to lead the group’s expansion in the digital sector.

The new role is strategic and operational, including management of the new media elements of Atlantic’s key properties, as well as standalone digital projects.

Burridge will be working closely with Atlantic’s founder and creative head, ceo Anthony Geffen, as well as commercial director, John Morris.

Ross joins Atlantic from Boto Media, a multiplatform digital publishing consultancy, which had previously worked with Atlantic on app development. Before this, Ross was editor-in-chief of iGIZMO magazine, and head of Emerging Platforms at Dennis Publishing.

“Ross was key in the development of our highly successful Kingdom of Plants app released in May this year," says Geffen. We believe it’s vital to expand our capability in new media as this is a key component of the multiplatform franchises we are now producing.  People can now watch our content on TV in 2D and 3D, see it on the big screen in their cinema, and engage with it through apps and other outreach products.  New media platforms are an increasingly important part of the mix for our public and therefore for us. “

The Atlantic Group includes Atlantic Productions, the 3D factual production company Colossus Productions (with Sky) and VFX company ZOO.

John Morris will be speaking about the digital strategy for Kingdom of Plants and other Atlantic work in new media at the Televisual Factual Festival session When Multiplatform Works at BAFTA on 24th October.
