Arrow Media has been commissioned by Nat Geo Wild to make Animal Fight Night, marking the production company’s first move into natural history programming.

Animal Fight Night
is a three-parter which features fights from some of the biggest, fiercest and most surprising fighters in the animal kingdom.

Each show will be set in a specific Animal Fight Night arena, using CGI to recreate and examine the fights. The series will also feature mid-fight pop-up analysis boxes to highlight scientific facts, including the ripping power of a lion’s tooth, the pressure exerted by a set of biting jaws and the force unleashed by a swipe from a grizzly bear’s paw.

Each episode will focus on animals in a different region of the world. Episode one; Animal Fight Night: Savannah Smackdown, looks at animals in the African Savannah, episode two, Animal Fight Night: Rumble in the USA, examines creatures fighting in the USA and episode three, Animal Fight Night: Beach Brawl looks at animals living on the edge of the water.

Tom Brisley, creative director, Arrow Media, says: “By using techniques that show the action in minute, captivating detail, viewers will be given a unique insight into the world of animal fighting.”

Animal Fight Night will air in the US on Sunday, October 6 and will air internationally in December.

Tom Brisley will be speaking about international funding for factual programming at the Televisual Factual Festival on 6th November at Bafta. Arrow Media's John Smithson will be chairing a panel discussing the challenges of international commissioning which includes Hamish Mykura, the executive vice president and head of International Content at National Geographic Channels International.
