All3Media has confirmed its acquisition of drama indie, Neal Street Productions.

No price tag has been released but Neal Street was reported to have put itself up for sale back in May last year for £40m.

Neal Street was founded in 2003 by director Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris and Caro Newling. Nicolas Brown joined in 2013. It makes television drama, theatre and film including Bafta winning BBC1 series Call the Midwife, Sky Atlantic’s Penny Dreadful and The Hollow Crown. The theatre arm has generated a variety of stage productions including new musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, currently showing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Jane Turton, CEO and Steven Brown, Director of Corporate Development led the acquisition negotiations on behalf of All3Media.

Jane Turton, CEO, All3Media said: “Neal Street is a fabulous company and it’s wonderful to welcome them to the All3Media Group.  They have an incredibly strong slate of market leading TV, film and theatre shows and I look forward to working with Pippa, Sam, Nick and Caro and the Neal Street team as they grow their business, in the UK, the US and overseas.”

Neal Street Productions added “All of us at Neal Street are thrilled to be joining forces with Jane Turton and her team at All3 Media, a company we have long admired and whose philosophy and style feels totally in tune with our own. There has never been a more exciting time to be making high quality, popular drama, so to find a partner who understands our work across film, theatre and television, and who can help guide and support our growth is exactly what we had hoped for. “
