Two new quiz shows have been commissioned for the BBC 1 Saturday teatime slot from Hat Trick and 12 Yard and Possessed.

Catchpoint, hosted by Paddy McGuinness, is a co-production from Possessed and 12 Yard and is billed as “the very first physical game show where contestants can get their hands on the answer using both their brains and balls.”  Players must stand in front of the screen that they think is displaying the correct answer, press the button to release the ball and then catch the ball when it drops from the correct answer trapdoor.

Catchpoint (6×30′) is a Possessed and 12 Yard co-production for BBC One. The Executive Producers are Glenn Hugill for Possessed and Andy Culpin for 12 Yard. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Kalpna Knight-Patel.

In The Time It Takes, contestants have to guess what activities take longer from unwrapping every sweet in a family pack, completing a Rubik’s cube underwater or deflating an air bed and putting it back into its original box.

Comedian Joe Lycett will be fronting  the show with assistance from the referee (casting still TBC). The Time It Takes (8×40′) is produced by Hat Trick Productions for BBC One. The Series Producer is Meriel Beale and the Executive Producer is Richard Wilson. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Jo Street.
