Now in its fourth year, The Televisual Intelligent Factual Festival is the leading forum for business information and debate for ALL factual television filmmakers, business executives and project leaders.
Televisual brings together the biggest names from across the UK factual TV community for a series of well-informed and insightful keynotes and panel sessions designed to tell you what the major factual TV commissioners are looking for and how to get your programmes funded. Sessions are themed across all the major documentary genres as well as covering digital channels and new media and are chaired by prominent experts in the business.
IF ’09 brings today’s factual TV programme makers up to date with what’s happening in their world in a two day event. Over 600 people attended the panel sessions, 10 x 10 evening and workshops last year.
All of the high impact sessions go to the heart of current business and content issues in factual TV. The primary focus for all sessions is how to succeed within the factual programme making business.
New content for 2009
This year there is an even sharper business focus on finding alternative routes to market – be it new media or digital channel commissions, alternative ways of raising finance or how to make TV for the web. While at the same time, the festival remains true to its roots by exploring beyond the sound bite with robust and revealing discourse and the strongest chairs and interviewers working in the media space.
The sessions are split into four main streams:
MEET THE COMMISSIONERS: get your programme made
In five panel discussions covering network factual, digital channel, specialist factual, factual entertainment and current affairs commissioning you can find out what to pitch, how to pitch and how to make sure you get your programme made. All of the commissioner sessions include presentations from senior commissioners and commissioning editors from the UK terrestrial and major digital channels.
SHOW ME THE MONEY: make your business work
From the art of finding funding for high end documentary to alternative sources of funding for factual TV and how to successfully run a factual Indie in a downturn, all of the ‘show me the money’ sessions have a sharp business focus to help the factual programme maker in the current economic climate.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES: the future of factual
Find out how leading factual programme makers are partnering with digital agencies to maximise exposure of their content. IF ‘09 profiles some recent award winning examples and talks to experts in the world of multiplatform. Elsewhere the festival covers the future of factual with a panel of senior executives and examines the current debate around safeguarding the future of factual television at a time when funding for public service genres is in jeopardy.
DELIVER THE CONTENT: the biggest and boldest ideas in factual content
Deconstructing what makes great programmes: IF’09 teams up with some of the most successful factual programme makers to find out how they got it commissioned, funded and made with a view to determine the key to their success.
