It was a difficult year for BBC Factual. The department was in the news due to a major restructure and a raft of redundancies. And it’s now in the midst of more change with the announcement of the departure of department boss Keith Scholey who’s heading off to Disney to make a feature film about big cats. Scholey will be replaced in the interim by head of features and documentaries at BBC Bristol, Tom Archer. But despite all the changes, the quality of the leading shows produced inhouse shouldn’t be overlooked. They included some of the corporation’s biggest hits with a number of award Winners among them like Earth: Power of the Planet as well as other favourites including The One Show, Watchdog, Anatomy of Crime, Seven Ages of Rock, Nature of Britain, Springwatch, Ganges, Last Man Standing, The Day India Burned: Partition, Coast, Trawlermen, The Culture Show, Horizon and DIY SOS.
