Winner

Later With Jools Holland

May, BBC2, (BBC)

The overwhelming winner in this category, Later With Jools Holland has now reached its thirtieth season and has been running almost non-stop since its birth in 1992 with pretty much anyone who’s anyone in modern music now having played live on the programme. The 200th edition of Later was broadcast in February this year and the annual New Year’s Eve Hootenanny has become something of a national institution. The longevity of the show is such that the 2007 series was even increased from its usual run of 14 to 20 episodes. In a television landscape where genuinely popular popular-music shows are so few and far between, Later With Jools Holland has remained a mainstay of the BBC’s schedules and continues to go from strength to strength. Creative head of BBC music entertainment, Mark Cooper is the producer and Janet Fraser-Crook the director.
