Although the tickets haven’t been selling as fast for this year’s event, the Somerset based Glastonbury Festival is still the biggest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world and the BBC’s production team were there to catch all the action in 2007 including bands playing on several stages around the site, special acoustic performances and reports from the wilder parts of the site. Highlights of the festival action went out across the BBC’s television, radio and online services and included performances from The Arctic Monkeys, Shirley Bassey, The Killers, Iggy and the Stooges, Amy Winehouse and Björk. The BBC even launched its own stage at the festival with the Introducing… stage showcasing 24 up-and-coming UK artists over the weekend. BBC3’s Glastonbury coverage helped push the channel to its best weekly audience share and reach at that time.
