OVERVIEW

The Televisual Annual 2007 (The Annual) is the authoritative reference tool for producers and project managers working in television production.

The Annual provides the busy executive with:

  • A ‘best of’ Televisual’s essential business information including a comprehensive breakdown of television commissioning editors, while contextualising their role within key genres
  • An up-to-date analysis of programme rights and overseas distribution
  • A who’s who in programme making and the best of Televisual’s core surveys
  • Best-practice advice about changing production workflows and products from location shooting to mastering and content delivery. All written in conjunction with acknowledged expert practitioners and supported by case studies
  • Comprehensive contact information about production resources and technology providers
  • And, this year, all searchable online

Providing the Televisual reader with a unique one-stop resource (and for free).

The Televisual Annual 2007 (The Annual) is sent out to all Televisual readers (please see our ABC audited circulation) and is the most powerful advertising medium for anyone who wants to communicate and sell their services or products to the production community. The Annual’s readers are at the heart of the market, and have operational and budget responsibility.

MAIN DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE ANNUAL 2007

  • THE BUSINESS section now includes more genre specific information, drawn and updated from Televisual’s regular genre reports in the magazine
  • Nations & Regions is included within THE TALENT section and assesses the production centres - Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow - outside London
  • THE PRODUCTION section sees the most developments as it now has twice the editorial page count as last year. The emphasis is now on change and developments within the production disciplines while still including expert opinions, expert guidance and supporting case studies
  • There is also a (free) listings section to support the production content, that is researched and collated within a maximum six weeks of distribution to ensure the information is current
  • With more space and a different emphasis the tone is upstream from last year’s, more closely reflecting the pedigree of Televisual’s core circulation
  • There are fewer advertisements within many more editorial pages than last year ensuring that your advertising and your company’s message really stand out
  • And finally The Annual 2007 is repurposed in its entirety online. Heavily promoted both through the magazine and with partners and free to access it is set to become the primary production industry resource for the busy producer.

THE ANNUAL, 2007

The Annual is broken down in to three distinct parts reflecting and building upon Televisual’s leading coverage over the year while providing key business information all in one place.

PART 1 THE BUSINESS

The Commissioners

The Annual begins by offering a fully up to date, comprehensive list of the major UK commissioning editor, channel by channel (including both terrestrial and multi-channel), with profiles and Q&As with many of the major players - what content they want, how they want it and how much they have to spend on it.

Genre Reports

The Commissioners section includes updated analysis of the relative performance of and key drivers for key television genres - as reported in Televisual throughout the year - and an exploration of the key relationships between commissioners, producers and suppliers.

Content Distribution

The Business section concludes with a section on rights management, choosing a programme distribution partner (with a full list of the main companies) and a look at how UK content fares overseas with best practice advice, updated from our distributors survey in April for MipTV.

PART 2 THE TALENT

The Talent section both repurposes and adds to Televisual’s core annual surveys. Televisual’s long-running surveys being the benchmarks for the production business, including:

The Production 100

Televisual’s ranking of the 100 best independent broadcast production companies including their contact information and a guide to recent developments at each company. The Annual version also chronicles the recent take-overs and mergers in this quickly changing sector.

Nations and Regions

This is drawn from Televisual’s new survey of the production hubs outside the M25 looking at both production companies and facilities partners (May 2007).

The Commercials 30 and The Corporate 50

Televisual’s rankings of the best advertising and corporate production companies complete the analysis of core production talent and how to get hold of it.

The Facilities 50

Televisual’s comprehensive survey of the post market simply has no comparison.

PART 3 THE PRODUCTION

The Production section takes the producer through the entire production process step by step and in greater detail than last year. It includes expert advice from producers, directors and others at the top of their profession as well as case studies and updates on new and emerging technologies and techniques. The emphasis is firmly on what’s changed, what’s new and what’s coming. Broken down into easy-to-use sections, the production guide offers progressive advice on getting the show made on time, on budget and how to avoid the pitfalls. There is a strong emphasis on production workflow points of change, particularly Tapeless, High Definition (HD), Digital Intermediate (DI) and new content distribution opportunities.

The editorial running order is as follows:

ONLINE

The Televisual Annual is also repurposed and searchable online where advertising predominantly takes the form of a limited number per section of fixed banners, buttons and skyscrapers with guaranteed sites above and to the side of given editorial. The online version will be open access, with no tedious registration or codes to remember. Please ask your sales contact for more information.

ABOUT TELEVISUAL

The majority of Televisual’s circulation is defined by individual budget responsibility for hiring resources, buying kit, commissioning content and asset storage. It is a potent readership that together commissions, produces and creates the vast majority of UK television, commercials, (top-end) corporate communications and film. Please see our very impressive ABC that tells you where Televisual readers work, what they spend their money on and how much they spend.

By advertising in The Annual you can be sure that your message is seen in the right context, the right editorial environment and by the right readers. You can also be certain that with the credibility and brand force of Televisual behind it The Annual is the key reference tool for the busy producer and will be throughout the year.
